Clinical Scientist Sam Beatson Writes About Human Metabolism

The terms metabolism and metabolic change are both
scientific terms and there has been a
plethora of information written on both, some of
which is conflicting. Don't always think
it to be true that your chnge in weight either loss
or gain - is attributable to metabolic
change absolutely.
We can use our knowledge of science to increase our
metabolic rate and thus burn more calories.
Changing our diets to include certain foods regularly
or even observation the results of sitting
in a Turkish Steamer for many hours illustrate.
Metabolic change can be temporary.
Changing our diets to include certain foods regularly or
even observation the results of
sitting in a Turkish Steamer for many hours illustrate.
Whereas the eating the right foods
is a real, proven weight loss method through increased
metabolic change, the the steam
room method is just temporary because the lost weight
is merely water, and will return
as swiftly as it "melted away".
We'll illustrate with the example of a steam room,
why we can't always relate our weight loss with
metabolic change every time.
This is because fats are replaced by carbohydrates
and proteins in such foods, which require to be
burnt off or the body will convert
them into fats for storage.
Therefore we cannot expect to increase metabolism with
foods with a "LOW FAT" logo alone.to help increase
metabolism. It's depressing to think of how confusing
the "metabolic mystery" is to solve. So many people
each year try and fail and reinforce this by trying
to take control once more of their health, fitness and
wellbeing.
As you can see, and probably
feel from years of trying to unravel
this whole metabolic mystery, this is a confusing,
stressful, and indeed, potentially
depressing situation. Each year, tens of millions of
people attempt to retake control
over their health and the shape of their body; and each
year, tens of millions of people
feel that they've "failed" because, try as they might,
they just can't speed up their
metabolism.
However, it is the nutritional and health services
who should bear the weight
of responsibility in telling us how we can safely and
properly speed up our metabolism and
which foods will help us to do so. It's time to stop
playing a game of ""wait and see"" when
we can clearly get valuable information from those
enterprises and institutions who do know
the facts about food that boost metabolism."
