Golf As It Was
by Gabe Vanonte

You've watched others play golf, you've seen the pro's on
TV play golf, you've heard your friends talking about the
best drivers, putters, and golf balls. With so much golf
going on around you, you've decided to learn to play. After
all, how hard can playing golf be?

But you shall be in for shock. How hard can it be after
all, all you do is put the ball on a small tee and hit in
down the fairway. Simple! You might want to play around a
bit before you go and spend loads of money on clubs and
balls.

Golf is a fairly easy game to take up as it can be played
on any course open to the public. It is very rewarding and
is fun with friends to have a social weekend round. For
beginners it is a joy but is completely exhausting!

Golf is always more tiring for beginners because they tend
to travel further on the course. Beginners also tend to see
the valleys and hills and bunkers and water traps more than
the pros too. This is because the golf ball is almost
uncontrollable when you are learning and so you have to go
scouting for it more often.

The key point is that in the beginning there is a lot to
learn and accomplish for beginners.

First off, it's good idea to remember this one phrase, "You
can't buy better golf scores." Golf is ultimately not
about the best golf clubs, golf balls, golf bags, golf
shoes, or even expensive golf lessons. It's also a good
idea to start off with an inexpensive set of clubs, maybe
even borrow some from friends, just to test your passions.
The next step is to take a few golf lessons, either online
or from an instructor locally. Then go to the driving
range, and practice, practice, practice. At the driving
range remember to do more than simply hit the golf ball.
The game of golf is probably 90% mental, and 10% other, so
train your mind from the start. You will be thinking about
your stance, your set-up, the way you hold your golf club,
your posture as you hit the ball, and possibly a hundred
other phrases you'll hear as you begin to learn the game of
golf.

When people give you tips and tricks take them all in and
find the ones that work for you. Ultimately though the only
thing you need to do is get the ball into the hole on the
green in as few strokes as possible.
